Tell us about your position.

My core responsibilities include Coastal Geosciences Laboratory Supervisor and Remote Sensing Practice Area Leader. As the lab supervisor, I provide support for a variety of different coastal and waterway projects. The remote sensing work includes surveying, drones, and a variety of other new equipment and technologies. These two roles This position provides the opportunities to work on several diverse and rewarding projects.

How did FAU help prepare you for this role?

My work at FAU in the Geosciences and the Coastal Studies Laboratory directly prepared me for both of my roles at Taylor Engineering. While pursuing my Master's degree I conducted thesis research related to nearshore sediment transport that involved significant amounts of sediment lab and statistical analysis. My advisor, Dr. Tiffany Roberts Briggs was instrumental in guiding me through my research and introducing me to the coastal geoscience/engineering community.

What did you enjoy most about FAU?

As a Coastal Geologist, I cannot think of a better place to study than FAU. The proximity to the coast, year-round warm weather, and expertise of the faculty supporting the Geoscience's Coastal Studies Laboratory are unmatched.

What tips would you give to current students in the College of Science looking to pursue a career in your field?

My best advice to current students considering a career in the geosciences or coastal geosciences would be to reach out to those in the field before graduating to understand how their degree may translate to a career after graduation.
